The Nerd Christmas One-Shot Campaign

The Ventures

December 24 – Day one of blood-burnin’, Kurt exporificates Peoria. Gary and Jake begin walking back with the captives.

December 25 – Day two of blood-burnin’, Dre begins unearthing Ogre’s basement with Shaun, Julia, and Drew, Kurt continues exploring Peoria. Cedric the captive breaks his leg, Jake uses a shovel as a splint, they make it back to town.

December 26 – Day three of blood-burnin’, Jake joins Dre and the gang and finishes unearthing Ogre’s basement.

December 27 – Day four of blood-burnin’, Jake gets shot at (and shot) and digs up a beautiful box in his dad’s backyard. Eventually he opens it. Kurt does not like the results. Unfortunate Raccoon dislikes Jake and Rich.

December 28 – Final day of blood-burnin’, Karl is no more. Jake annihilates the machine and goes a little deaf for a while. The group basically comes back together in town via the teleporter. Rich builds a stone lid over the evil swimming pool.

December 29 – Everybody wrangles up some folks (and some people) to hear the tale of the Peoria killin’. There is a general consensus that the story was impressive, and perhaps something might come of all this nonsense. The party explored Lincoln, moved on to Mason City, found it was Styxified, crossed with some out-of-game cheating, discovered some orcs, ended some orcs, found a meazel, ended a meazel, Dave Arnesonized.

December 30 – And then they drove acroth the countrythide, bravely getting drunk with dwarveth and thlaying wolveth along the way.

December 31 – They were attacked by ash goblinth and trollth and ash goblinth ath they rethted, and thaw the shimmering thpireth of Minnethota, Dave Arnethon’th thtronghold. After a thurprithingly thafe thtroll through the thity, the party reached the spire and entered through the back door. Surprisingly, their conversation with Arneson (after several secret doors) went astoundingly well, and they ended up convincing him that he could be the righteous one now that Gary was not around to bully him anymore. So he freed Jessie and Eugie from his mind control and started the long process of creating an economy amongst his monsters and soon-to-be-former monsters.

January 1 – So many things in the Tomb of Horrors. After carefully navigating the Tomb of Horrors again, the gang unlocked the secrets of the satellite, observed a terrifyingly large black chevron covering the planet, released 75 other gamers from suspended animation, helped split them up into several appropriate groups per their interests and where they could be teleported to, and then decided to go back to Blackmoor and see how commerce was going.

January 2 – After camping, the group finishes the epic journey back to Mason City West, negotiates with Charon for one pass for an excellently boring videotape of important talking, and Eve sacrifices her computer use for the good of all.

January 3-8 – Jake reads The Vigor Book from Dave Arnethon’s secret stash. Meanwhile, Kurt flew at an increasing rate of speed around the entirety of the state (and part of Wisconsin) within the border of the River Styx, picking up more than a dozen EMP-shielded parts for HAM radios in the process, enabling Rich’s evil goals and disabling Gary’s hopes and dreams. Jake is also “talkety-helpful.”

The Previous Adventures

December 22 – During the watch, at around 2 A.M., Rich shows up and shoots Gary, Gary runs and gets shot by Rich, Rich shoots Rich and Kurt takes Rich out and tries to find where Rich came from.

Ultimately Rich kills everyone, from Rich and Rich (Carl and Brandon) to Tom and Kyle and Steve and Michael and Skinless Joe Jackson.

Kurt finds the machine and does not throw up at the sight of all of the charnel horror.

Rich rescues a few captives and starts making a Magic 8-Ball Magic.

Karl continues shooting lightning.

December 23 – Rich finishes making a Magic 8-Ball Magic and asks where the quarter is.

Rich asked about the machine and such, and Tsathoggua came up, and then Gary cleaned the painting. Look at the painting, you guys.

Draw straws to see who gets the long straw and must drink. Drink from the blood rotisserie.

The Further Adventures

December 11-18 – Exploration of New Normington, splitting up for sanity purposes.

December 19 – Rich starts constructing new motorcycle, Jake discovers ruins of Rich’s house, Kurt explores Champaign/Urbana, Gary uses a microscope and is horrified. Looting of Rich’s vault, Gary’s overlooked room. Kurt explores Champaign/Urbana again, with the thermograph and Geiger counter. Jake kidnaps a raccoon and Rich roofies it.

December 20 – Raccoon torture. Visiting Old Bloomington-Normal Pit. Exploring remnants and basements and things. Seeing lots of new vegetation. The gang eventually heads to Peoria, and Kurt is first to spot the first actively distressing thing in this area: clouds melting down to the ground and the sky tearing apart to reveal a void before stitching itself back together and the whole process repeating. The gang gives pause and hides out upriver for the night.

December 21 – After being chased by a storm, the fun bunch attempts a stealthy assault at night along the I-74 bridge. Stealthy though it was, a bolt of lightning nearly hits Gary as soon as he haughtily crosses, and a semi-thrilling fight ensued, where the group finally stopped Derek for good, and stopped Gina and Wade and Henna as a side benefit. Good thing that is everyone and everything here to fight! Oh and Kurt totally found a relic.

So, with that all out of the way, you are currently holed up wherever you like in New Normington (though Anish’s bunker seems clear of crazy people and full of supplies).

Kurt has mentioned wanting to research everything everywhere forever, and has been mentioning this since before the world ended. Since there is time now, he will undoubtedly break his glasses just as everyone else in the world dies. He is also looking into rapid-hair-growth research.

Gary has been meaning to take up Tai Chi. And has also been seemingly wanting to pursue a different kind of research from Kurt. Oh, and there is that whole “trying to find his wife and daughter” thing.

Rich probably wants to become King of Pastatown or something. He is also going to do whatever it takes to track down the truck with his 15-year-late Kevlar vest shipment on it. Hopefully he does not want to walk to the Philippines yet, that would totally ruin playing by post.

Lucas and Jake are totally psyched about retiring. In-game, not necessarily out-of-game.

Everybody else, well, they may have things they want to do, but I am not going to pester them. Yet.

Here is where I am saying what is going on in the environment.
